Our poor sweet Sausage had a huge painful infection in her head. Originally, the vet thought she had an allergic reaction to a bee sting. He gave her a shot, but after a few days nothing changed for Sausage. Then he tested her huge bump on her head. On Friday, the vet sliced her head open and drained out all the yuckiness (aka: pus and blood). Then a drainage tube was inserted so the wound could air out and drain. Sausage was so brave and good. When she got home she followed me so close that I had to be careful not to step on her. We had to flush out the wound with iodine and give her medicine. Sausage rested and took it easy. On Tuesday, the drainage tube was removed so she could heal. Today she was more like her normal self. She even wrestled with the puppies for a bit. I'm so proud of our sweet Sausage. She left her wound alone for the most part and was very patient through the whole ordeal. I just hope we don't have to go through this again with her or any other dogs.
